A new plaque to celebrate our volunteers

I was proud to have the honour of designing a celebratory plaque, thanking our volunteers for their hard work and support of the Unlocking the Severn project. The plaque was unveiled at a special volunteer thank you celebration event this week.

The design

Our key volunteering groups needed to be front and centre of the plaque. I designed simple but elegant shoal of shad, using different images of these fish, to surround the text. The mirrored effect was chosen to direct people's gaze (quite rightly!) to the names of the volunteering groups.

I used our brand fonts to retain the Unlocking the Severn style. The project logo was added at the top, as well as the partners and funders logos beneath.

A gesture well received

One of our volunteers, who attended the thank you celebration, wrote:

"I do appreciate how much thought, planning and effort was put in by the team. [The thank you event] was a success! The plaque is such a permanent testimony to all the volunteers - and the Unlocking [the Severn] team."
